About NIH Supply Center
Who We Are
The NIH Supply Center is the Agency´s internal, not-for-profit, and FAR-approved first source for research and office supplies. We operate a warehouse that stocks online orders through iProcurement, as well as two campus stores.
What We Do
We help secure the best value for the Agency on the supplies it uses to lead the way toward important medical discoveries that improve people´s health and save lives. We just charge you the wholesale cost we pay for items and a surcharge to help cover the cost of the operation. Unlike other sources, we are a not-for-profit organization, so your dollars stay put within the Agency. We also save the Agency money by reducing P-card transaction time and expenses, shipping costs and other costs of external ordering that you may not see but really add up.
Changes We´ve Made
We´ve made several changes over the past year to improve our operations, including:
- Over 200 new products.
- Implemented NIH "green" effort by stocking environmentally-friendly product options.
- Significantly reduced backorders.
- Next-day delivery; moving towards "Just-In-Time" delivery.
- Launched a desktop delivery service for store orders.
- Launched a user-friendly searchable web catalog
Changes on the Horizon
We are working hard to serve you better and are taking steps to make it easier to get your supplies from the only internal NIH supply source. Over the next year, we are aiming to:
- Make ordering easier to provide one-stop online shopping experience.
- Enhance the new user-friendly web catalog by integrating it with the ordering system.
